In Matthew 18:19, the word translated “agree” is the Greek word sumphoneo, which literally means “to sound together.” Do you recognize the related English word? (symphony)
Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them (Matthew 28:19-20).
The participation of all members of the orchestra is expected, each following the same score, under the leadership of the same conductor. Each of the instruments may be highlighted briefly, but none dominate. All participate, working together.
In a church, we are all needed as participating members doing our part in the “symphony”, all of us doing so together to make beautiful music to the Lord as we serve in with our talents, spiritual gifts, love and commitment to minister in one way or another, including in prayer as noted in these verses.
May Pleasant Hill Brethren in Christ continue to be a symphony of praise to God and witness to our community.
